Comments : Cum Spiritu
This is a symphonic poem in which, following an introduction, the theme of the Spirit is announced in a vigorous tempo. It refers to the Holy Spirit who descended on the apostles at Pentecost and filled them with wisdom, strength and charity (that is, love for God and one’s neighbour). With these gifts they spoke in many tongues, converting some three thousand people on the first day. Next follows a more cantabile theme and after it, a development of the theme of the Spirit which leads to a climax, continuing later with an adagio espressivo designed to be suggestive of charity. Later we return to further developments of the Spirit theme, which lead to the end of the work.
Next you can listen to the 3 movements of “CUM SPIRITU”, 1.- Largo. Allegro molto (11"24"") 2.- Adagio (7"38"") and 3.- Allegro (9"15"").

JOAN LLUÍS MORALEDA I PERXACHS (b.1943) is a representative figure of the older generation in the world of music in Catalonia. He studied at the Barcelona Conservatori Superior Municipal, where he was awarded Honours Prizes for oboe and the Honours Prize and Special Prize for composition.
As an oboist in the Orquestra Ciutat de Barcelona until 1980, he pursued further studies in oboe, composition and orchestral conducting in France with T. Aubin and P. Pierlot, and later with A. Ros Marbà.
A composer who has won many prizes in various competitions for music for Cobla (sardana band), with an interest in many fields of music, he has the prize for a work of Popular Ballet and the 'Agustí Borgunyó' prize for his work in this field.
He and his close associate the late Ernest Lluch formed a team to revive in 1997 and 2000 the forgotten Catalan operas 'Il Telemaco nell’isola di Calipso' by F. Sor and 'Tassarba' by E. Morera.
As a conductor of contemporary music, he has given important performances in Barcelona of Les Noces by Stravinsky, Le Marteau sans Maître by Boulez, Pierrot Lunaire by Schoenberg, and Berg’s Concerto for violin and piano, among other works.
He was principal guest conductor of the Philharmonia Mieczyslawa Karlowicza in Stettin (Poland) for ten years. He is currently conductor of the Cobla Simfònica de Catalunya, an ambitious project led by Antonio Ros Marbà, and is a member of the conducting team of the Banda Municipal de Barcelona.

Comments : Cantorata (It has been released in german but there is a "catalan" version)
This is a cantata for soprano, chorus and orchestra, which contains three prayers: Our Father, Ave María and the Doxology (Gloria Patri). Following an orchestral introduction, the chorus sings the Our Father “a capella”. After the prayer comes an interlude in the style of chamber music before the final pharase “for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory”. The Ave María for soprano and orchestra follows. In conclusion, after a fugal introduction, comes the Gloria Patri for chorus and orchestra.
Next you can listen to the 3 movements of “Cantorata”, 1.- Vaterunser (Our Father) (12“), 2.- Ave Maria (6“12““) and 2.- Gloria Patri (15“11““).
