Albert de la Fuente is a Catalan composer and industrial engineer. He grew up in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona province) in a family with no musical tradition. His musical training comprises piano lessons with local teacher Assumpta Breda from ages 16 to 18. At the age of 19, he began to independently study harmony. He presently balances his career as a composer with his role as a mechanical engineering consultant and his position as a professor at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.

His music synthesizes influences from both 'high' and 'low' art, often combining classical structures with folkloric or jazz inflections and the aesthetics of the 20th and 21st centuries. His compositional language is typically tonal or modal but is not averse to dissonance or extreme chromaticism.

His works have been performed in Catalonia (Palau de la Música) and in the United States (California).
